Daar ontmoet hij de energieke boh\u00e9miens&nbsp;<strong>Toulouse-Lautrec<\/strong>&nbsp;en&nbsp;<strong>Santiago<\/strong>, die hem introduceren in de Moulin Rouge, een nachtclub vol glamour en decadentie, geleid door de charismatische&nbsp;<strong>Harold Zidler<\/strong>. Christian raakt meteen betoverd door de club en vooral door de sterperformer: de prachtige en mysterieuze&nbsp;<strong>Satine<\/strong>, ook wel de &#8220;Sparkling Diamond&#8221; genoemd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Satine heeft echter haar eigen problemen. De Moulin Rouge verkeert in financi\u00eble moeilijkheden, en Zidler heeft een deal gesloten met een rijke en machtige man, de&nbsp;<strong>Hertog van Monroth<\/strong>. De Hertog wil de club financieren in ruil voor exclusieve rechten op Satine\u2019s aandacht \u2013 en liefde.
